2 Days Addo Elephant Park Safari
Day 1: Port Elizabeth to Addo Elephant National Park, South Africa
The economical Addo Elephant Park Safari commences in Port Elizabeth, where you will be picked up from your lodging about 8:00 am. Departing from Port Elizabeth, also referred to as PE by residents, we proceed directly to Addo Elephant National Park, situated about 35 minutes’ drive away. Upon arriving at the southern entrance of Addo Park, we complete the check-in process and take a brief respite before proceeding into the wilderness.
As we drive north through Addo, we survey the game-abundant plains and deep thickets for wildlife and avian species. This location is the premier site for observing elephants in South Africa, housing around 700 of these pachyderms. Addo boasts one of Africa’s largest densities of elephants, establishing it as a premier elephant hotspot on the continent. However, elephants are not the sole representatives of the Big Five species present here, as all five iconic animals occupy Addo. Lions, buffaloes, and rhinoceroses can all be observed during game drives here, and with much fortune, leopards as well. Addo Park is home to Africa’s Big Five, as well as various antelopes like as kudu, bushbuck, and red hartebeest, along with zebras, hyenas, jackals, and others.
During mid-morning, we take a break for refreshments, including coffee or tea and biscuits. We continue our game drive, pausing at waterholes to observe the animals congregating to drink and bathe. We arrive at the primary rest camp within Addo Park around noon and settle into our lodging before to having lunch. Following lunch at the park’s café, we commence an exhilarating afternoon game drive in the wildlife sanctuary of Addo. Your guide is pleased to provide further information about the fauna, flora, avifauna, and other organisms of Addo Park during your journey, offering insights into this distinctive ecosystem and its wildlife.
In the early evening, we return to the campsite and partake in dinner in the park’s restaurant (at our own expense). Following supper, you may participate in a nocturnal game drive with SANParks as an optional activity for an additional fee. The nocturnal excursion occurs in an open safari vehicle, enhancing the excitement of encountering the African wilderness after dark. Alternatively, you may observe nocturnal fauna and avifauna at the illuminated waterhole in the camp or return to your chalet. Pay attention to the vocalizations of the black-backed jackal, lion, and hyena as you go into slumber this evening.

Day 2: From Addo Elephant National Park to Port Elizabeth – South Africa
Awaken early this morning and commence your day with coffee or tea accompanied by a little snack of rusks. Subsequently, we embark once more into the wilderness that envelops us in our customized safari vehicle. Mornings are an optimal period for observing wildlife and avian species, since numerous animals, particularly predators, exhibit heightened activity throughout the early hours.
Our morning of wildlife excursions leads us back to the rest camp for brunch at the park’s dining establishment. Subsequently, we check out and re-enter our safari vehicle for a final game drive as we exit the national park. As we continue southward through Addo, we remain vigilant for fauna of varying sizes, ranging from majestic elephants to diminutive flightless dung beetles.
