This 4 Day double gorilla trek allows you enjoy the gorilla tracking experience twice in the Bwindi impenetrable forest national park. During the 4-day double gorilla trek, you will visit two sectors of Bwindi and track two different mountain gorilla families and thus enjoy the ultimate gorilla trekking experience. Bwindi has four sectors, Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga and Ruhija with a total of 14 habituated gorilla families. This tour will allow you visit two of the above sectors.

4 Day Exclusive Double Gorilla Tracking Safari: Detailed Itinerary

 Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Have your early morning breakfast at the lodge and after, your driver / guide will pick you up from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe. You will be briefed about the safari and embark on your journey to the Bwindi impenetrable forest for your 4 days double gorilla trekking tour. Along the way you will stop at the equator to take photographs and relaxation, you may also purchase some crafts, continue with the journey arriving in Mbarara town for lunch. After lunch you will proceed with your journey driving through the beautiful scenery, rolling hills with terraces arriving in Kabale also called the Switzerland of Africa. Proceed and drive to the lodge, on arrival, check in to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: First Gorilla trek and transfer to different sector

Rise up and have morning breakfast. With your packed lunch, you will walk to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla trekking. The expert rangers will take you through all the dos and don’ts for gorilla trekking and while with mountain gorillas and after that, you will be divided in groups and assigned a gorilla family you will be trekking. After, you will be transferred to the starting point of your gorilla family.
Please note that gorilla family allocation depends on your interests, fitness and age. Please inform your guide of your interests and he will try to request for the gorilla family of your choice before you start the trek into the forest. Gorilla trekking can be strenuous and a certain level of fitness is required.
Gorilla trekking can take from 30 minutes to three quarters of the day so one needs to prepare for both. You guide will provide with all the information about the birds, trees, and some forest animals until you have found the gorillas.
You will be allowed only one hour of photography and observing mountain gorillas as they go about with their daily day activities and then trek back to the park headquarters to pick your certificates and there after transfer to a different sector of Bwindi where you will check-in to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Note: Endeavor to carry enough drinking water, water proof camera, rain coats, hats, sunglasses, walking/hiking shoes, insect repellent, among others

Day 3: Second Gorilla trek in Bwindi, afternoon community walk and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

Just like the previous day, you will wake up very early and proceed to the park headquarters for your second gorilla trek. This time around you will trek a different gorilla family.
Later in the afternoon, you will have a community walk in which you will meet the Batwa pygmies and learn about their culture.
After your community walk, you will drive to Lake Bunyonyi which is home to 29 islands and a great place for birds; its waters are Bilharzia free and safe for swimming. You will have your dinner this side and Overnight stay.

Day 4: Departure

Enjoy a delicious morning breakfast, and set out for a boat ride on lake Bunyonyi where you will go around various islands with sights of terraced hills, birds, and alike. Thereafter start off your journey to Kampala having lunch en-route. Embark on your journey arriving in Kampala in the evening, Your guide will then drop you off at the hotel in Kampala or transfer you to the airport for your flight back home.

Getting There

The trip will start from Kampala or Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and you will be dropped off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe international airport after the trip.
