Wildebeest Great Migration Overview
Please note that the Wildebeest Great Migration is a seasonal event. As a natural wildlife phenomenon, it is fluid and unpredictable, which means that witnessing the Great Migration cannot be guaranteed.
The wildebeest, along with other wild herbivores, migrate between the Masai Mara in Kenya and the Serengeti in Tanzania. These herds follow a vast circular route covering approximately 1,200 miles (1,931 km). This continuous movement of wildlife can be observed in different locations at various times of the year.
Throughout the migration, the herds sometimes disperse or slow down during certain phases, while at other times they increase speed, resulting in larger and denser groups. The Wildebeest Great Migration varies not only by place and season but also shifts from year to year, making each safari experience unique.
