The 7-Day Rwanda Classic Safari takes you on an unforgettable journey through Rwanda’s major tourist destinations and hidden gems.
Kayaking on Lake Kivu and passing Kigali city while trekking deep into the mountains of Nyungwe Forest and Volcanoes National Park in pursuit of the critically endangered mountain gorillas and the mischievous chimpanzees.
With this Rwanda Classic Safari, you will also travel to Kigali, where you will take part in a city tour and see a variety of sights like the national museum, the art facts, the genocide memorial center, and much more. Mountain gorilla hiking is also included in the safari at Volcanoes National Park. On a trip to Rwanda, you should not skip this fantastic adventure. The journey includes a stop in Akagera National Park, where you may see a variety of bird species and creatures from the savanna, such as zebras, antelopes, giraffes, and lions. In the Nyungwe Forest National Park, there will also be primate encounters and plenty of opportunity to trek chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, baboons, and other forest primates.

7 Days Rwanda Classic Safari Adventure: Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at the airport
You will be met at the airport by a representative of Adventure In The Wild Safaris who will then guide you to the hotel in Kigali town. After some time to rest and recharge, lunch will be given. Take a city tour and stop at the Kigali genocide memorial to pay your respects to the more than 800,000 Rwandese who are interred there.
Dinner and a night in the city of Kigali.

Day 2: Transfer from Kigali – Volcanoes National Park
After breakfast, choose a different city tour to see more interesting places like the national museum, the presidential palace, artisan markets, and local culture, among other things. After lunch, take a beautiful drive to the national park of the Volcanoes, where you can see endangered mountain gorillas.
Learn more about the Banyarwanda traditional practices and traditions in this area by spending the evening in Ibyiwacu Cultural Village. You will have the opportunity to meet with locals in their natural habitat and experience their distinct culture and traditions through the cultural encounter. Retire back to the lodge for dinner and the night after this cultural refreshment and entertainment.

Destination: Volcanoes National Park
Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Spend a day in the wild with the critically endangered mountain gorillas. Hike through the Virunga volcanoes’ rolling hills and greenery until you stumble upon these modest, shy apes. Spend some time with these fascinating animals while the tour leader explains their habits, families, and way of life. After meeting them, visitors are only permitted to see mountain gorillas for a maximum of one hour as they eat, play, and tend to the infants.
After the encounter, go back to the lodge and spend the evening relaxing and studying. Dinner will be served at the lodge, and you’ll stay the night.
Day 4: Transfer from Volcanoes to Akagera National Park
Drive to Akagera National Park on the fourth day of this Rwanda Classic Wildlife Safari and arrive in the late afternoon. Proceed to Lake Ihema for a relaxing boat ride along its banks, which are home to numerous populations of both aquatic and terrestrial animal species, including hippos, buffaloes, and Nile crocodiles. You’ll also have the chance to see the second-largest lake in Rwanda in addition to a wide variety of bird species that live among the swampy vegetation. After dinner, retire for the evening.

Destination: Akagera National Park
Day 5: Transfer from Akagera National Park to Nyungwe National Park
After eating breakfast, go on a morning game drive to see beautiful animals up close, such as Zebras, numerous antelope species, and giraffes. After that, you will leave the park by car and stop for lunch en route in Kigali. Continue on and arrive to Nyungwe Forest in the evening. Many different primate species, including as chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys, white and red colobus monkeys, etc., may be found in Nyungwe National Park.

Day 6: Chimpanzee Trekking in Nyungwe Forest National Park
After breakfast, travel to the park headquarters for an orientation before starting your chimpanzee trekking adventure. Nyungwe Forest National Park is a great place to visit if you enjoy primates because it is home to over 13 distinct species.
You will be split into eight groups, and at precisely 8:00 am, you will depart on this interesting expedition with the ranger guide along the lovely woodland walk in search of chimpanzees. You can enjoy other primates like Grey-cheeked mangabeys and Colobus monkeys while walking around the pathways while listening to the pleasant melodies of many bird species kept in the forest.
The trip lasts between two and six hours, but knowledgeable guides will make sure they get you to where you can observe the primates as quickly as possible. Being able to watch chimpanzees play, eat, and relax up close is a very incredible experience. After this worthwhile experience, return to the resort for lunch before venturing outside for an exciting canopy walk to view the stunning twin lakes and the many bird species that call this forest home. Retire to the lodge for meals and the night in the evening.
Day 7: Transfer back to Kigali for departure
Depending on the time of the flight, you will either be dropped off at the lodge or head to the airport on the final day of the seven-day Rwanda Classic Safari. You will first have breakfast before leaving for the Kigali Airport.
