8 Days Kenya’s Amboseli and Masai Mara Safari

Day 1: Overnight Stay in Nairobi National Park | 1 Night

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, you will be promptly transported to Nairobi Tented Camp, located within Nairobi National Park. It is not only Kenya’s oldest recognized reserve, but also the largest protected area in the world situated near a metropolitan center. The park serves as a primary rhino sanctuary and a refuge for avian aficionados, accommodating approximately 300 species, including migratory birds during March and April.

Your spacious canvas tent includes an en suite bathroom with fire-heated showers, providing a warm atmosphere. Your veranda offers a view of the valley and acacia grove, serving as a reflective sanctuary. Select between a professionally led 4×4 game drive or a trip to the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, a prestigious facility dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of orphaned elephants, which has successfully reintegrated over 150 juvenile elephants into their natural habitat. This experience requires prior reservation.

Nairobi, Kenya

Days 2-3: Evade the Masses | 2 Nights

Following breakfast, return to Wilson Airport in Nairobi for your light aircraft journey to Porini Amboseli. Evade the throngs of tourists by residing in Porini’s tented camp within this exclusive conservancy.

Awaken to the delightful scent of coffee and biscuits prior to embarking on your safari excursion. At the campsite, savor a delectable supper beneath an Acacia tree while admiring the snow-capped summits of Mt. Kilimanjaro. The afternoon game drive pauses at a breathtaking vantage point for sundowners before proceeding as a nocturnal drive. An exhilarating chance to observe nocturnal creatures hunting for sustenance. Return to the campsite where your exquisite dinner awaits in the inviting mess tent.

Amboseli National Park, Kenya

Days 4-5: Explore the Ol Kinyei Conservancy | 2 Nights

Following a meticulously prepared bush breakfast, proceed to the Selenkay Airstrip to board your light aircraft flight to Wilson Airport. Proceed to your subsequent game viewing platform – Porini Mara. This unassuming camp is located in the Ol Kinyei Conservancy, encompassed by flourishing savannah plains, riparian forests, undulating hills, and serene rivers.

Engage with the Maasai in traditional attire, who impart their profound knowledge of the land and wildlife during intimate nature treks. Elevate your wildlife viewing experience in Porini’s traditional safari vehicle (not a minibus) or ascend above the plains in a hot-air balloon.

Return to the camp for a cordial reception from the camp manager before refreshing yourself in your en suite tent. Savor a delectable sundowner beside the Laetoli River prior to indulging in a meal crafted from the freshest ingredients, presented by amiable personnel.

Masai Mara, Kenya

Days 6-7: Encounter Exceptional Big Cat Sightings | 2 Nights

Today, you will go to Olare Orok Conservancy, where Porini Lion Camp is situated along the banks of the Ntiakatiek River. The region is distinguished for abundant predator and large game observations, featuring elusive leopards and many elegant antelope species.

Attend in the arid months of August and September to observe the annual phenomenon of wildebeest moving to the drier regions of Kenya in pursuit of tender new grass shoots. Following a day of visiting Kenya’s gem, the adjacent Masai Mara, exchange campfire stories with your fellow travelers in the traditional boma.

Day 8: Bid Farewell to New Companions

It is time to bid adieu to the amiable staff and fellow travelers who have accompanied you on your journey.
