Kazinga channel is one of the Uganda’s tourist attractions situated in one of the prominent and most visited national parks in Uganda – Queen Elizabeth National park. Kazinga channel is a wide 32-kilometre long natural channel in Uganda, Kasese District, that connects two waterbodies together that is lake Edward and lake George. On the Eastern side of Kazinga Channel, there is Lake George which Is smaller with a depth of 2.4metres (250sq.km) supported by the streams from the Rwenzori mountains which is north of the lake. The out flow of lake George is through the kazinga channel draining into lake Edward situated in the Western part of the channel covering approximately 2000km2. Kazinga channel is registered and protected through Ramsar sites rights of conservation of wetlands in Africa.

Boat cruise

How to get to Kazinga channel.
The channel can be accessed using both air transport and road transport. It is situated in the northern part of Queen Elizabeth National park. From Kampala to Queen Elizabeth national park, it is about 7-8hours drive via Masaka- Mbarara, Fort portal, Kasese roads. When traveling to the channel, Mweya peninsular is where the boat cruise starts from. The peninsular is 20km west of kasese-mbarara road.
