Full Day Addo Elephant Park Safari

Full Day Addo Elephant Park Safari in South Africa – The comprehensive marine and wildlife excursion commences with pickup from your lodging in Port Elizabeth. Your guide will collect you at approximately 7:30 am and transport you to the harbor. Subsequently, we embarked on a boat excursion in Algoa Bay, where a diverse assortment of marine species is typically observable. We navigate to St. Croix Island to observe the extensive colony of African penguins and search for whales, dolphins, sharks, seals, and diverse marine avifauna.
Upon returning from the boat ride, we will eat lunch at the harbor or at a nearby restaurant (at personal expense). Subsequently, we depart for the Big Five Addo Elephant National Park, located just a 35-minute drive away. We enter the park by the southern gate, pausing briefly for a comfort break upon arrival.

Upon entering Addo, the wildlife observation expedition commences! Addo Elephant Park is, as its name implies, a destination for observing elephants in South Africa. It hosts one of Africa’s greatest elephant populations, rendering it an exceptional location to observe these intelligent creatures in their natural habitat.

Alongside several elephants, we may observe lions, buffalo, zebras, and diverse antelopes like as eland, kudu, and red hartebeest, among others. Our game drive proceeds northward to seek animals and avifauna in the dense thicket and expansive plains of Addo.
Subsequently, we return to the southern gate and exit the national park, proceeding back to Port Elizabeth. We arrive back in the hospitable city at approximately 18:30, where you will be dropped off at your lodging.

Marine biodiversity of Algoa Bay

Algoa Bay is a marine hotspot renowned for its richness and variety of marine life and avifauna. Among its diverse marine fauna are some of the largest and most cherished marine species on Earth: humpback whales, southern right whales, and dolphins.

St Croix Island in Algoa Bay hosts one of the five largest breeding colonies of African Penguins globally. Additionally, Algoa Bay is renowned for its abundance of bottlenose dolphins, with some referring to it as the “Bottlenose Dolphin Capital of the World.” Bottlenose dolphins are frequently observed engaging in playful activities inside the waves, often in sizable pods comprising up to 300 individuals.
Seals are frequently observed during boat excursions in Algoa Bay, alongside the ocean’s apex predator, the Great White Shark.

About Addo Elephant Park

Addo Elephant Park hosts a diverse array of fauna, including the majestic African elephant and the little flightless dung beetle. Addo, the third-largest national park in South Africa, is the sole national park where one can observe the Big Seven: lions, leopards, rhinos, buffalos, elephants, southern right whales, and great white sharks.

The park’s most notable feature is its robust elephant population, which totals around 700 individuals. Initially including 11 elephants, which were on the verge of local extinction in 1931. Alongside the Big Five, Addo is home to wildebeest, zebra, eland, gemsbok, kudu, springbok, red hartebeest, bushbuck, hyena, warthog, and more species.

Important Notice

The morning boat excursion is contingent to weather conditions. If weather conditions are adverse for the boat journey, we will allocate an entire day for a safari in Addo Elephant National Park at the usual day safari rate.

Whale watching is a periodic endeavor. Southern Right and Humpback Whales are typically observed from June to November prior to their migration to feeding grounds in the Southern Ocean. Nonetheless, permanent whale species inhabit this region, notably the Minke and Bryde’s whales, which are comparatively smaller and more agile.
