4 day Rwanda Gorilla Trekking and Mount Bisoke Hike: Detailed Itinerary

 Day 1: Arrive Kigali airport and transfer to volcanoes national park.

Pick up from either your hotel in Kigali or from the airport by our Gorilla Safaris Guide who will take you for the Kigali city tour in which you visit the city’s top attractions including the genocide site memorial center at Gisozi, a tour of the local markets and later depart for the Musanze province where volcanoes national park is located. You will arrive late and proceed to check in to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Safari Rwanda

After breakfast report at the Park headquarters for registration and briefing before you are assigned a gorilla family to track. You will then transfer to the starting point of gorilla trekking. The trek will last between 1-5 hours as the gorillas are constantly moving about the forest as they go about their day to day activities. Upon meeting the gorillas, you will spend a maximum of 1 hour in their presence then return to your lodge for lunch. In the afternoon, visit the panoramic twin volcanic lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. Lunch, dinner, and overnight stay at your hotel on Full Board basis.

Day 3: Rwanda Vacation Holiday – Bisoke Volcano Hike 

After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the base contours of Mt. Bisoke. Bisoke is one of the Virunga volcanoes that also includes Mounts Karisimbi, Gahinga, Sabinyo, and Muhabura. It is rather a steep climb, preeminent to cope during the short or long dry season. On top, the biggest crater lake of the Virunga chain can be seen unless there is too much fog. The track leads through bamboo forest, the habitat of mountain gorillas, giant lobelia or hagenia and alpine meadows. Picnic lunch at the summit, while viewing the beautiful Bisoke Crater Lake. Fantastic views of other volcanoes! You will then later descend and return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay at your hotel.

Day 4: Drive back to Kigali – Rwanda

After breakfast drive to Kigali. If you did not do a city tour on Day 1, you will have an optional opportunity to go for the Kigali city tour. Later you transfer to the Airport for your scheduled flight.
