Bird watching in Rwanda

If u are one of the bird lovers and nature lovers, no worries again here comes a great aviary in Akagera national park where most of the nice- and good-looking birds are found  In this park ,people come for an activity of bird watching. However, there are also other national parks in Rwanda where the birds are found and these are, volcanoes national park and, nyungwe national park. Bird watching in Akagera national park is memorable and unforgettable unless you are not a bird lover. This is a national park which attracts most tourists for bird watching .The park has got over 700 bird species  which are every where in the tree species in the park .They are also found in the swamps , wetlands and the bushes .Generally speaking , The watching of the birds in the volcanoes , nyungwe , and Akagera will give you great moments and good times for the rest of your time and will also give you a chance to see the 27 Albertine rift endemics  .This is because it is not too tire sum to look for the birds as long as you target the real time in the morning when they are still in there nests and in the late evening when they are planning to rest .

However, birding sometimes requires hiking to the top to look for some birds which always tend to hide there or which are always there looking for what to eat and to also look for different bird species that may not be common in the park.

When to go for birdwatching in Rwanda

Bird watching in Rwanda is done through out the year therefore there is no specific time for birders to come to the parks in Rwanda for mainly that activity .However the trained tour guides say that  the months of December , to February  are the migrant months and the bird seasons when Rwanda hosts a lot of wintering and pelearactic migrants .

Rwanda has tried recognizing the activity of bird watching by making sure that all the roads, Kigali international airport and the areas where the birds are tracked are renovated and well organized.

Volcanoes national park

The park has got over 165 bird species and 17 endemic areas where the birds are found. However, this park is known for mountain gorillas. It has got mountains such as bisoke, muhavura, gahinga, and kirisimbi mountains where the birds are found and the gorillas at the same time.

Nyungwe National park

This park is so far ranked the most popular national park for bird watching .It has many bird species that attract the tourists to come and see the birds there .The different bird species found in nyungwe include ,the red collared babbler , Rwenzori turaco ,handsome spur fowl ,Rwenzori batis , grauers swamp warbler , blue headed sunbird ,regal sunbird and the Albertine owlet .

Akagera National park

This park is located in the north east of Rwanda .The park fills up the space of the chunk of savannah .The park has acacia , the rolling grassland interspersed with broad leafed .The park has got over 525 species of birds including the red faced barbet , souse’s shrike , white collared olive back and the ruaha chart .The park is covered by papyrus wetlands and lakes where most of the birds hide .
