Hyena Pan Tented Camp - Overview
Overview of Hyena Pan Tented Camp Botswana, Okavango Delta, Moremi Game Reserve
Nestled in a secluded game concession, Hyena Pan Tented Camp offers an exceptional experience for those seeking a unique safari on the outskirts of the vibrant Okavango Delta. The camp is nestled in the Khwai River area, a renowned region teeming with wildlife, adjacent to the Moremi Game Reserve. Here, you can encounter elephants, buffalo, hippos, and a variety of big cats, wild dogs, and the ever-present spotted hyena throughout the year. This location invites you to discover the vast 350,000-hectare private conservancy and the wonders of Moremi through exhilarating game drives. You can also partake in unique activities within the concession, like spot-lit night drives and guided bush walks, which are exclusive to this area and not allowed in Moremi.
Hyena Pan Tented Camp offers a cozy and exclusive experience with just eight tented suites, each featuring its own private bathroom. It is a straightforward camp, yet cozy and thoughtfully arranged; kids over eight years old are invited to join, although there are not any particular amenities for them.
The focus at Hyena Pan is on adaptability and variety – you can immerse yourself in a full day at Moremi (with a packed lunch in tow), enjoy close wildlife observations from the camp’s ground-level photographic hide, or embark on a bird-watching adventure on foot with a knowledgeable guide. One highlight is a night away from camp on a ‘sky bed’, an elevated and luxurious sleeping platform set over water, creating an extraordinary experience in Africa.
General Amenities
Hyena Pan Tented Camp offers a cozy and inviting stay, centered around the main lounge, bar, and both indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Two outdoor seating areas offer stunning views of the waterhole, complemented by a cozy reference library and a refreshing plunge pool, featuring a sundeck and inviting loungers for relaxation. The camp boasts solar power, offering charging points for batteries and Wi-Fi access in the main lounge.
One of the camp’s standout features is its exclusive waterhole; aglow at night for thrilling wildlife encounters, it includes a ground-level hide for exceptional close-up photography and animal watching.
Dining experiences
Every meal, along with a variety of cold beverages, local beer, wine, and tea and coffee, is part of the all-inclusive rate at Hyena Pan Tented Camp. All meals are shared together at the main camp unless a special request is made.
Your day starts with the warmth of tea or coffee and a light breakfast, setting the stage for an exhilarating morning game drive, followed by a return to camp for a delightful lunch. Afternoon tea is served at around 3pm, leading you into your next thrilling safari activity, accompanied by sunset drinks and snacks. As you make your way back to camp, you relish the warmth of fireside drinks, followed by a delightful 3-course meal, served – if the weather allows – beneath the twinkling stars.
