San Camp - Overview
Exploring San Camp
Botswana, Kalahari
Embodying the essence of African elegance, San Camp is nestled in a private concession adjacent to the Makgadikgadi Pans, providing an immersive experience in the heart of the Kalahari Desert. San Camp, frequently regarded as one of Africa’s most enchanting retreats, welcomes guests exclusively during the dry season from April to October. With its seemingly endless vistas of rolling golden grasslands and palm tree-lined horizons, San Camp’s location next to the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park offers visitors a thrilling blend of game-rich open savannah and the striking, stark beauty of salt pans.
The resident guides at San Camp are exceptional, highlighting the unique species of the area like gemsbok, brown hyena, and springbok, along with the fascinating geology, archaeology, and anthropology of the Kalahari and Makgadikgadi Pans. Venture into the surroundings on quad bikes, 4X4 game drive vehicles, or by foot, where you are likely to encounter meerkats during your journey – these spirited creatures often climb onto visitors, using them as vantage points.
