Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Accommodation And Lodges

When one talks of accommodation in bwindi then he or she has to first and foremost ensure that he knows  well the the kind of gorilla trekking permit he or she has been given because you will get accommodation depending on the permit you have been given. These accommodation areas or lodges are in four different places which are Ruhija, Rushaga, Buhoma, and Nkiringo which are the different areas for gorilla trekking.  Here is the list of the recommended  Bwindi impenetrable national park lodges by sector.

Ruhija Sector Lodges

Ruhija is located in the eastern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and it is one of the four regions of gorilla tracking in Uganda. This region has 3 habituated gorilla families which are available to visitors to explore every day as long as they meet the standards such as valid gorilla permits, age and health.  At first Ruhija used to have only two gorilla families which were available for tracking and they were Oruzogo and Bitukura family while the third group [Kyaguliro family] was habituated  purposely for research but now it is also available for tracking making a total of 3 gorilla family groups. This makes a total of 24 gorilla permits daily because only 8 visitors are allowed to go for gorilla tracking for each gorilla family group. There are several areas of accommodation here in Buhoma such as

Gorilla mist camp

This camp has a classic  budget and mid-range accommodation with an excellent fast and reliable Wi-Fi, restaurant, ample parking area, a well-stocked bar and a 4 by 4 vehicle for hire.

 

Trekkers Tavern Ruhija

It is a budget accommodation area located at the top of the hill giving a beautiful scenic view of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, they offer services such as accommodation with 5 spacious cottages which accommodates 4 people in each, they have double cozy beds, private birth rooms  and showers, well stocked bar, restaurant  and also offer parking.

Ruhija Gorilla Safari Lodge

It is located in the middle of Bwindi forest and it is said to be one of the most comfortable and hospitable  lodges to be. It is good for the luxurious and mid- range visitors with facilities such as an incredible chalet accommodation, dinning, Dstv, free Wifi, gift shop with unique gifts,tea and coffee facilities, well stocked bar, hair dryer, wine cellar and a small library with amazing books about our continent Africa.

Buhoma Lodges

Buhoma is populated with tourists because it was the first place in Uganda where gorilla tekking started from and the first group of tourists to see gorillas in Uganda did it in Buhoma and it was in the year 1993. Buhoma has the oldest gorilla family which is called Mubare which currently has about 9 members. the accommodation facilities here include,

Buhoma community rest camp

This rest camp is a beautiful budget accommodation which was community established so as to benefit the people of Buhoma community and therefore if u choose to  use this place then be assured that you are helping someone out there in Buhoma community so it is good for adventure. It has bandas  that are cabins and also has dormitories and self-contained tents which are very comfortable and good for adventure.

Some of the facilities or services offered here include, a camping site for individuals who enjoy the beauty of being close to nature, 6 well fitted safari tents that are self-contained with a fantastic view of the forest, two properly furnished cottages, 5 twin cottages bandas that not self-contained but locally built and looking so beautiful, they have well a stocked bar with beers, spirits, wines, water and sodas, their restaurant offers both local and foreign foods with professional chefs and as the sun rises in the morning you will be served a very hefty breakfast before you go for your gorilla trekking.

Buhoma haven lodge 

This is a mid-range lodge located in the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and accommodates visitors who come to the park. The lodge consists of 6 eye catching twin cottages, 3 self-contained cottages, self- contained en suite safari tents, 2 non self-contained bandas and 1 family cottage which is all self- contained ensuite. They also offer a dormitory of 6 beds just like any other camp would.

They offer services such as, breakfast with fresh fruits, eggs in different variations such as scrambled, fried, boiled, poached or omelet, the lodge contains a restaurant with fresh foods which will stimulate your appetite, it contains a well-stocked bar with beers, sodas, spirits, wines and water. They also offer laundry services to their clients have stable Wi-Fi for their clients, car parking space and craft shop with local African gifts like clothes and some safari items.

Mahogany springs lodge

This lodge is a classy fancy one that will offer you one in a life time experience that you will live to remember and even at times gorillas even get so close to this lodge. They offer services such as breakfast buffet, fully stocked bar and restaurant, airport transfer, concierge and a comfortable accommodation with smoking and non-smoking rooms.

Nkuringo Sector Lodges    

This the section of bwindi is located in the southern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and it is the home to the Nkuringo group of mountain gorillas which has been testified by most tourists as the most interesting and calm gorilla family to deal and interact with.

Nkuringo bwindi gorilla lodge 

It is located on the Nteke ridge over looking bwindi impenetrable national park and it is a mid range lodge which is just about a stone throw away from the gorilla tracking starting point. It has graduated from  a low budget camp formerly  known as nkuringo gorilla camp to a fully well-established mid-range lodge which won accolades from the World Travel Awards as Ugandas leading safari lodge in 2016 to 2019.

Accommodation in this lodge comprises of 8 garden cottages, 3 villas made up of 2 interconnecting superior cottages and 1 family villa with a balcony which is shared and all the cottages are made locally using local materials, every cottage has a sitting area fire place , a private balcony and ensuite bathroom. They also offer services like free parking, free breakfast, a stable public wifi, full body massage, canoeing offsite and airport transportation. They provide water in jars to reduce the use of plastics in the lodge and they encourage clients to move with bottles that can be refilled.

Rushaga Sector Lodges

This is the sector of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park which has the most gorilla families and also one of the most scenic areas of the park and many lodges and other places of accommodation have sprung up here because of thi beautiful scenic views.                                                                                                                          

Ichumbi gorilla lodge 

This is a mid-range and luxurious lodge whose name (ichumbi) is a local Rufumbira dialect which means a ‘cool’ comfortable home. It is just about a 10 minute walk to Rushaga gate of bwindi impenetrable national park and it gives you a spectacular view of bwindi impenetrable national park at the comfort of your room.

It is fitted with a sun terrace, every unit has a flat-screen smart Tv and each unit has a balcony with garden views and every room used for accommodation has a private bathroom with free toiletries to use. It also has a free private parking space on site, free Wifi, offers vegetarian, buffet, full English/Irish, African and American breakfast options accompanied with coffee, African tea or black tea every morning. It also has  a terrace and shared lounge for guests to enjoy.

Rushaga gorilla haven

Rushaga gorilla havens lodge is a mid-range lodge located in Ryarutogara which is a local word which means hills and it is found in the rolling stones of kisoro district  in the south western part of the country. Its strategic location will make you enjoy relaxing here as the fresh winds from the hill blow your face as you are chilling in the garden.

It has a good accommodation with non-smoking rooms,well stocked bar and restaurant, high speed wifi, free parking area, free breakfast, pets are allowed and children activities are available.

Chameleon hill lodge

It is is located in Kisoro district in the  Southwest of Uganda and it is between the two national parks that is bwindi impenetrable national park and mgahinga national park. This lodge is located, near the shores nice looking Lake Mutanda and it is one of the best tourist destinations in South West part of Uganda with flawless remarkable views of the virunga volcanoes, Hills and the stunning lake Mutanda.

This lodge contains ten chalets with five double rooms and five twins,two beds in twins rooms, one large bed in double rooms, and extra beds are also available when needed by our clients.

It also provides both international and local meals during breakfast, Lunch and dinner and tea and coffee are available all day round, it also has a well stocked bar with sodas, beers, spirits, wines and water and it provides both international and local hot, soft drinks and beers.
