January is one of the dry months in Uganda / Rwanda with little rainfall  or no rainfall. January is therefore one of the best months for you to enjoy your gorilla trek. Other months which are dry and also offer a good gorilla trekking experience include : February, June, July, August, September, December.

However please note that despite the fact that little or no rainfall is expected in January, it may rain heavily in some days given that the gorillas stay in tropical rain forests.

Booking your gorilla trekking Safari in January

If you plan to book your gorilla trekking in January, you are advised to book atleast four to five months in advance such that your gorilla trekking permit is secured when there is still availability. Also if you book in advance, you are able to choose which sector to track from and the best lodge options when space is still available. The buhoma sector for example usually sells out four months before the tracking date and if you wish to track the gorilla families in Buhoma, you have to book your safari in advance. Other sectors in Bwindi include, Rushaga, Nkuringo, Ruija and you can also go to Mghahinga Gorilla national park.
