Wildebeest Great Migration Information

The Wildebeest Great Migration is one of the most extraordinary wildlife spectacles on Earth. However, it is important to understand that this is a natural phenomenon and follows no fixed schedule. As such, sightings of the migration cannot be guaranteed.

The massive herds of wildebeest, along with zebras and antelopes, migrate annually between Masai Mara in Kenya and Serengeti in Tanzania. The migration follows a roughly circular route covering approximately 1200 miles (1931 km). Depending on the time of year, you may witness dramatic river crossings, dense herds on the plains, or scattered groups in search of greener pastures.

Because the movement varies from season to season and year to year, we recommend consulting a travel expert at Adventure In The Wild Safaris to plan your safari around the best possible time to witness the Wildebeest Great Migration.

For more insight, you can also explore our in-depth article on the Great Migration in Serengeti and Masai Mara.
