Rhino River Camp - Overview
Rhino River Camp Overview
Kenya, Meru
Forest habitats are seldom linked to Kenya’s wild landscapes, which makes the verdant grove surrounding Rhino River Camp an exceptionally delightful spot to explore. With the gentle Kindani River meandering by, Rhino River Camp is a haven of tranquility. It is situated just beyond the western edge of the Meru National Park, within a 32-hectare private concession that is ideally positioned near the park’s dedicated rhino sanctuary. This region is home to the iconic Big Five, showcasing thriving populations of Africa’s legendary big cats: lion, cheetah, and leopard.
This region boasts a rich legacy of conservation and environmental stewardship. From this camp, you can embark on a journey to Meru National Park and discover the story of Elsa the lioness, the muse behind the book and film, ‘Born Free’. The park offers a unique opportunity for an intimate safari experience, free from the hustle and bustle of large crowds. Prepare for an incredible experience as you encounter rhinos up-close at a sanctuary that has played a vital role in bringing these magnificent creatures back to the park – a remarkable achievement and a testament to conservation efforts.
During your time at Rhino River Camp, you have the opportunity to embark on game drives, guided walks, mountain biking adventures, or explore this untamed terrain on foot. For those eager to explore cultural experiences, the camp wholeheartedly embraces the local community, and visits to nearby villages can be easily organized.
