Mauritius temperature by month
Climatic Conditions – Mauritius
Mauritius possesses a tropical climate. There are two seasons: a hot, humid summer from December to April and a cooler, yet still warm, dry winter from May to November. Cyclones may occur from January to March.
The climate of Port Louis in relation to the remainder of the country
Port Louis is situated on the western shore. The interior is often three to five degrees cooler than the coastal regions. The eastern and southern regions of the island are marginally drier and warmer than Port Louis. Winter (May to November) introduces the southeasterly trade winds, resulting in potentially uncomfortable wind conditions in July and August along the island’s southern and eastern coasts.
Dry Season — May to November – Winter
Precipitation is irregular during these months. The coastal weather is warm with low humidity.
• May and June — The daytime temperature averages 28°C/82°F. Precipitation diminishes.
• July, August, and September are the driest months. The daytime temperature is pleasant at approximately 27°C/81°F. The eastern and southern coasts may experience windy conditions with the occurrence of trade winds.
• October and November — Temperatures increase, with November reaching a high of 30°C/86°F.
Wet Season — December to April – Summer
Precipitation occurs consistently from December until April. January through March are cyclone months, making them unsuitable for visitation.
• December – Rainfall intensifies, resulting in elevated humidity levels. The mean diurnal temperature is 31°C/88°F.
• January, February, and March — Rainfall is significantly elevated, and there exists a potential for a storm to impact the island.
• April – Precipitation remains significant, however the cyclone season concludes. Midday temperatures approximate 31°C/88°F.
