The incredible blend of national parks teeming with wildlife, including Mikumi, Ruaha, Kitulo, and Udzungwa, alongside the prestigious Selous Game Reserve, will undoubtedly leave you captivated and eager to share your unforgettable experiences.

Selous Game Reserve is a place brimming with excitement and exploration.
The Selous Game Reserve is a protected area in southern Tanzania, spanning vast expanses of land that cover approximately 50,000 square kilometers, complemented by an additional buffer zone surrounding the park. Selous Game Reserve stands as the largest Game Reserve in Africa and ranks among the largest in the world.

Selous Game Reserve is celebrated for its vastness, surpassing Switzerland in size and being an astonishing four times larger than Serengeti National Park. Selous Game Reserve earned its status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1982 due to its rich variety of wildlife and pristine natural environment.

Selous Game Reserve boasts an incredible diversity of vegetation, featuring open grasslands, riverine forests, swamps, and Miombo woodlands, all of which create a vibrant habitat for the wildlife that thrives within the Reserve.

The Reserve boasts the highest densities and diversity of wildlife species compared to any other Miombo woodland area, featuring over 2,100 known plant species. Additionally, many more undiscovered species likely thrive in the remote forests to the south.

Selous Game Reserve boasts a vibrant array of large mammals, including a remarkable population of over 106,300 African elephants. Additionally, it is home to one of the largest known populations of hippopotamuses, with around 18,200 individuals thriving in this wild sanctuary.

Selous Game Reserve boasts an incredible array of black rhinos and wild hunting dogs. The Reserve is alive with an array of wildlife, featuring majestic ungulates like sable antelopes, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, greater kudu, and Nyassa wildebeest. It’s a vibrant scene filled with large numbers of crocodiles, lions, zebras, impalas, leopards, hippos, buffalo, and impressive herds of giraffes that frequently gather at the lakes to drink in the warmth of the afternoon.

Selous Game Reserve is enriched by an array of birdlife, hosting over 400 distinct bird species, including the rare Pel’s fishing owl, which can be spotted along the shores of The Great River Rufiji and the lake edges. The Reserve comes alive with a vibrant array of birdlife from December to April, making this period the ideal time for birding adventures in Selous Game Reserve.

Mikumi National Park
Often likened to the Serengeti National Park, which spans 3,230 km², it stands as the 4th largest national park in Tanzania. Mikumi National Park shares its southern border with the Selous Game Reserve, creating a distinctive ecosystem through their connection.

The Park is flanked by the majestic Udzungwa Mountains and the stunning Uluguru Mountains. The Malundwe Mountains rise majestically within the Park, forming the highest point of the hills that stretch east and west, linking the Uluguru in the northeast with the Udzungwa Mountains to the west. Mikumi National Park is a perfect spot for safari enthusiasts, ensuring wildlife sightings throughout the year.

Ruaha National Park
Ruaha National Park is located in the heart of Tanzania and is the most renowned destination on a southern circuit safari. Ruaha National Park covers over 7,800 square miles, establishing itself as the largest safeguarded wildlife region in Tanzania and all of East Africa.

Ruaha National Park is nestled within a vast expanse of 45,000 square kilometers that encompasses the Rungwa-Kizigo and Muhesi ecosystem, featuring the Rungwa Game Reserve, the Kizigo and Muhesi Game Reserves, as well as the Mbomipia Wildlife Management Area. The National Park hosts a remarkable 10% of the African lion population. Wildlife encounters are assured throughout the year.

Kitulo and Udzungwa National Parks are brimming with excitement and exploration.
Kitulo National Park is renowned as the “Garden of God.” The national park showcases incredible flora and fauna, complemented by breathtaking scenic views. The enchanting allure of Momella Lake makes it an ideal destination.

Udzungwa National Park boasts an incredible array of biodiversity, setting it apart from other national parks in Tanzania. Udzungwa National Park boasts a remarkable array of flora and fauna, representing 30-40% of the nation’s plant and mammal species.
