Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park
Uganda has about 18 habituated gorilla families that are open for gorilla tourism and Bwindi harbors about 17 gorilla families while as Mgahinga has only one habituated gorilla family that has just recently made its permanent settlements but before it used to make its movements to Rwanda and Congo.
Bwindi forest has been divided into four sectors that are home to various habituated mountain gorilla families that are found in the park. Such as Rushaga sector, Nkuringo sector, Ruhija sector and Buhoma sector. Among the four sectors, Buhoma is the best gorilla trekking sector with about 4 families that almost every traveler prefers to enjoy trekking when they visit Bwindi forest however all sectors give fascinating gorilla trekking experiences.
For all travelers that would like to enjoy gorilla trekking in the Buhoma sector we advise travelers to make advance booking since gorilla trekking permits for Buhoma sector are on a very high demand and they tend to completed very fast compared to other sectors especially in the dry season which is as well the peak season where a lot of travelers visit Uganda. This is so common to all sectors during the peak season where permits are so completive that why we advance travelers to make advance bookings at least 6 months before traveler.
What is the cost of Uganda gorilla safaris?
Gorilla Uganda safaris are offered depending on travelers budget and offers from different tour operators grantee travelers the gorilla trekking permit as a must inclusive in the offers . The price cost of a gorilla trekking safari will depend on the season that the traveler would like to travel and also the type of accommodation that he/she would prefer to use on the safari.

A Uganda gorilla trekking permit costs 700 USD per person per day and gorilla habituation costs 1500 USD per day person. With gorilla trekking the Uganda wildlife authority allows a maximum of 8 people to meet a gorilla family and travelers are allowed to spend one hour with the gorillas from the time they meet a gorilla family. While as with gorilla habituation travelers are allowed to spend 4 hours with a gorilla family from the time they meet it and a maximum of 4 people are allowed to researchers in the habituation process.
Best time for the Uganda Gorilla safaris?
The best time to enjoy gorilla trekking is during the dry season since Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park are dominated by the tropical rain-forest that receive rainfall throughout the year. But during the dry season there is little rain expected to destruct your gorilla trekking experience in the jungle.
The dry season in Bwindi is during the months of December to February, June to mid-October and it is at same time the peak season in Uganda where many travelers are coming to Uganda.
During the rainy season, the trekking trails in Bwindi forest are muddy, wet and slippery thus making trekking the gorilla family difficulty. This is during the months of March April, May and November.
