Itinerary

Day 1: Kampala to Kibale National Park

The Uganda Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife Safari begins in Kampala. After departing the capital, we drive through lush jungles and papyrus marshes, en route to Kibale National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy a guided walk around the crater lakes and a cultural visit in the crater area. Overnight near Kibale Forest with views of the Rwenzori Mountains.

Day 2: Kibale Park Chimpanzee Trekking

Start the day with a chimpanzee tracking walk in Kibale National Park, home to over 500 chimpanzees. Kibale is one of the best places for chimpanzee viewing in Africa. After tracking chimpanzees, take a nature walk to Bigodi Wetland to explore the diverse plant and animal species. Return to the lodge for overnight accommodation near Kibale Forest.

Day 3: Kibale National Park to Queen Elizabeth Park

Depart Kibale and head to Queen Elizabeth National Park. En route, visit Nyakasura Falls and enjoy the scenic landscapes of Uganda’s countryside. The park is home to elephants, lions, buffalo, and various birds. Enjoy a meal and overnight stay near Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Day 4: Queen Elizabeth National Park

Begin the day with a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, known for its rich wildlife, including elephants, buffalo, and the Uganda kob antelope. After lunch, embark on a boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel for stunning views of birds and wildlife like hippos and buffalo. Return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Queen Elizabeth Park to Bwindi

On the way to Bwindi, enjoy a game drive in the Ishasha section of Queen Elizabeth Park, famous for its tree-climbing lions. Continue through the scenic Rwenzori Mountains, past volcanic craters and lush forests. Stop to explore the local communities near Bwindi National Park. Overnight in the Kisoro District.

Day 6: Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Gorilla Trekking

After breakfast, set off for a thrilling gorilla trek in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This once-in-a-lifetime experience allows you to get up close with the endangered mountain gorillas. The trek can take up to 6 hours, but the reward of sitting in the jungle with these incredible creatures is unparalleled. Afterward, relax at your lodge in Bwindi.

Day 7: Bwindi Park to Kampala & Entebbe

On the final day, we leave Bwindi and travel back to Kampala. En route, visit Igongo Cultural Village to learn about the Bahima and Ankole cultures of Uganda. Stop at the Equator for photos before continuing to Kampala, where the Uganda Gorillas, Chimps & Wildlife Safari concludes.

About Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to half of the world’s mountain gorillas. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is known for its rich biodiversity and is one of the most biologically diverse areas in the world. The forest also hosts a significant chimpanzee population, making it one of the only places in Africa where these two species live together.

This tour is suitable for children. However, the minimum age for gorilla trekking is 15 years, and the minimum age for chimpanzee tracking is 12 years. Game drives may not be suitable for very young children. Please contact us for specific child rates and policies.
