Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla permits actually means Uganda gorilla safaris for Bwindi Impenetrable National park and Mgahinga gorilla national park. UWA is the body that is responsible for conserving Uganda wildlife in national parks and game reserves. Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Mgahinga gorilla national park in Uganda harbor the largest number of mountain gorillas in the world which is half of the total world’s population of mountain gorillas. Currently in Uganda, there are 14 habituated mountain gorilla families that can be trekked everyday by a maximum of 8 trekkers per day. Bwindi is composed of 13 habituated gorilla families residing in the four sectors of the park of Nkuringo, Buhoma, Ruhija and Ruhija sectors.

Reserving Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla permits.

The Uganda Wildlife Authority is in charge of all the national parks in Uganda and their permits.  Permit booking with UWA requires when a client has already chosen the park where he/she will visit. A gorilla trekking permit costs USD 600.00 and the activity is carried out in Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Mgahinga Gorilla national park in Southwestern part of the country. After choosing the national parks, you will need to select the year, month and date when you will be visiting Uganda. Requirements for Uganda Wildlife Authority gorilla permits.

Gorilla trekking activities are done in Uganda’s Mgahinga and Bwindi Impenetrable national park in south western Uganda. In order to purchase a gorilla trekking permit from UWA, we will need you passport with all the details like name, nationality and date of birth. The nationality is required for determining the country that sends more visitors in Uganda and it also affect the price of a gorilla permit, for example, if you are from the East African countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Burundi, Tanzania, you will get a discounted gorilla permit price. Foreign residents also get gorilla trekking permit as a discounted price. The date of birth is needed to prove the visitor’s age since gorilla trekking activities have age limit of 15 years and above. Children below this age are not allowed to do gorilla trekking as they are considered vulnerable and they mostly carry the common communicable diseases. Though, if you want your child of 15 years below of age to participate in the trekking, he or she should be at least nearing to his or her 15^th birthday and are physically fit. There are lots of competitions for UWA gorilla permit every day, therefore we advise our clients to book at least 4-5 months earlier before the actual trekking date. The permits sell out very fast because Uganda is the most targeted gorilla trekking destination in Africa. There are three countries of Uganda, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo where the mountain gorillas live in their natural habitat. Uganda gorilla permits are cheaper (USD 600.00) compared to Rwanda’s USD 1500.00 and it is safer than Democratic Republic of Congo.
